ABOUT THE PROJECT



Learning and Skills Council (LSC) North East has granted UK online centres in the funding to run a project which will deliver a series of events aimed at BME learners.

Chinese Centre (North of England) has been selected as the flagship centre to manage this project. The centre has recruited 10 active member UK online centres - to run events with the aim of engaging BME learners into learning opportunities leading to level 2 qualifications. A total of 11 events will take place in May and June 2009.

The Chinese Centre has been supported by the UK online centres Regional Manager and Learndirect Partnership Manager to deliver training which will enable recruited centres to deliver successful events.

UK online centres are represented on a BME Taskforce group hosted by LSC North East, the aim of the group is to identify activity which will help in meeting the goal of increasing the number of BME learners within the North East Region to progress to full level 2 qualifications. The project will also work in partnership with learndirect in supporting progression.
